Folk Reels, Started in 1990 by Eric Blakely is the Recording Studio where Eric and numerous other Austin artists, as well as musicians, from all over have come to record their demos and albums.

Started as a studio to record his own music, Eric soon found that other artists needed an affordable place to record their Music. Eric Chose the Name Folk Reels and was in operation for 16 years.

Eric had to close the studio officially in 2006 when the house in which the studio was built was sold. Eric now works out of his studio outside Paris, France. Hippy XIV is the new name and he is continuing the tradition of Folk Reels by recording other artists as well as his own music there.
